Behaviour Modification addresses more specific behavioural issues like excessive barking, nervousness, aggression, pulling on the leash, destructive behaviour, separation anxiety, toilet training, over-excited jumping, resource guarding.
We are currently focusing on Private Training!
Our group training sessions are conducted outdoors in parks. However, we have been facing difficulty scheduling a 6 consecutive week program due to recent unfavourable weather conditions (extreme heat, sudden downpour). As such, we have decided to take a break from group training.
Should group training resume, we do require trainees to complete private training to prepare the dog and dog handler to manage the dog in the more distracting outdoor group setting. It is important to note that group class is suitable only if your dog is food/toy motivated outdoors, friendly to humans and dogs and enjoys being outdoors.
Group class can be stressful for dogs who get car sick or are fearful & reactive. If your dog has more targeted behavioural issues (aggressive, reactive, very anxious/fearful outdoors, barkish & unable to step out of the house) please arrange for private training sessions instead.
To understand if Lodge and Learn is the best option for your dog, we do need a home-based consultation/training session first. This 60-90 minute session allows us to evaluate your dog’s temperament and behaviour in your home and your specific needs. We will also share our training approach and programme to start the process to work towards your goals.
If Lodge and Learn is the best recommended programme, a 10-day programme follows. You will be kept updated on how your dog is doing during its stay. Photos and videos will be shared.
After the 10 day programme, there will be 2 handover follow-up sessions to reinforce the training with your family. These 2 sessions and our continued communication seeks to ensure everyone stays on track and the dog does not revert to its undesired behaviours. It is important to note that management and training when the dog is back home needs to continue for long term success.
Finally, Lodge and Learn is subject to availability as we only work with one dog at a time.
Project ADORE (Project on ADOption and REhoming of dogs) is led by the Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS) and is supported by the HDB, in partnership with Animal Welfare Group (AWG) partners.
Through Project ADORE, you will be allowed to own a local mixed-breed dog, also known as Singapore Special, up to 55cm in height in HDB flats. Only one dog is allowed in each residential unit.
As per AVS, the adoption process includes a mandatory obedience training programme that adopters must complete with their dogs. Training must be done with an AVS-Accredited Certified Dog Trainer or an ADORE dog trainer. For more information, check out the AVS web.
Only six Animal Welfare Groups (AWGs) are approved by AVS to facilitate Project ADORE adoptions. These AWGs are commonly referred to as Rehoming Partners. The six AWGs are:
You may approach any of these six AWGs to help you facilitate your dog’s Project ADORE adoption.
Project ADORE training must be done with an AVS-Accredited Certified Dog Trainer. K9 Kampong is very happy to announce that we are both AVS-Accredited and have worked with dogs from all six AWGs.
In order to be awarded the Project ADORE Training Certificate, your dog must be able to reliably perform SIT, DOWN, STAY, COME & LOOSE LEASH WALKING and must do well in social interactions including WALKING THROUGH CROWD, DOG TO DOG INTERACTIONS & REACTIONS TO DISTRACTIONS. You may refer to the basic obedience training accredited syllabus set by NPARKS.
You must first ensure that your puppy or dog qualifies to be adopted under Project ADORE. To qualify for Project ADORE, dogs need to be at least 6 months old and no taller than 55cm from the ground to shoulders.
K9 Kampong strongly believes in creating a conducive learning environment and in working at a pace that is effective and comfortable for each individual dog and handler. As we aim to set our puppies up for success, K9 Kampong would recommend dogs < 6 months old to start with the PUPPY START IT RIGHT program and level up to basic obedience training.
We accept bank transfer, PayLah or PayNow (preferred). Full payment in advance is required to confirm your sessions.
Payment details will be sent in a confirmation email upon decision to proceed training with K9 Kampong!
Important note: PLEASE DO NOT SEND PAYMENT WITHOUT COMPLETED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS (Training Registration Form and Adoption Form for Project ADORE).
We require at least four days’ notice for changing or cancelling a reservation. If this is not met, you will be expected to pay for the dates you reserved.
Each training package is valid for 3 months from date of first session. Please plan to start training when you have the time to train daily with your dog during the period of the training programme.
